Caretaker Landscape and Tree Management is Hiring a Vice President of Operations Near Gilbert, AZ

Position Summary
Caretaker Landscape is an agile organization dedicated to fostering organic growth. This key leadership position reports to the COO/President and will be responsible for all aspects of operations for the Landscape Maintenance Division which includes Water Management, Arbor Care, Spray, and Maintenance. The VP will be a hands-on leader who is collaborative, strategic, and detail-oriented, with proven operations, quality, and management experience. The primary focus will be developing and executing an integrated operations strategy that delivers best-in-class service, on time / within budget, and industry-leading quality, customer satisfaction, and safety.

People Leadership

  • Ensure key roles are filled with people who possess the aptitude, skills and drive necessary to meet our growth and financial objectives
  • Employ sound leadership skills to build trust and engage a high performance, results-driven, customer-focused team
  • Create a compelling vision, gain buy-in and support the team to execute on the vision
  • Implement regular two-way communication processes that ensure consistency of focus

  • Ensure the commitment to customer service is upheld through demonstrated decisions and actions made by the organization

Strategic Leadership

  • Effectively balance the need to grow and enhance customer loyalty with the need to maintain efficiency, costs and terms that achieve the organizations financial goals
  • Lead all facets of landscape maintenance operations strategic planning process, from development through to implementation, ensuring all business plans, operating and capital budgets support the organization’s goals
  • Identify, evaluate and establish operations plans for growth opportunities
  • Constantly evaluate market conditions and build a network of contacts that will ensure the Landscape Maintenance Division has access to all opportunities consistent with its strategic goals
  • Attend and represent the company at various industry functions and events

Operational and Fiscal Accountability

  • Function as a member of the executive team and contribute to strategic management of the division
  • Recommends and implements strategic changes. Lead operations to drive results for world-class operations
  • Build and maintain client and industry relationships
  • Manage and improve operations that feature a diversified portfolio of business
  • Builds, develops and manages operations leadership team capable of carrying out needed operations strategies
  • Ability to optimize operational competencies that support the business strategy
  • Implement the operations plan to drive significant process improvement to drive bottom line performance
  • Ensure that the operations capacity is defined and expanded; ensuring continued improvements and enhancements are made in an effort to have them operated in a safe, secure, efficient and effective manner
  • Continually assess and benchmark operational processes with those of other service providers and leading organizations outside the industry to promote the highest levels of effectiveness and efficiency
  • Ensure appropriate reporting tools are in place to monitor results with a focus of driving continual improvement, efficiency, and effectiveness of key business processes as well as safety
  • Optimize resources, including inventory, facilities, budget dollars, physical and capital assets, and talent
  • Other duties as required

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Competencies

  • Demonstrated expertise in managing the P&L and budgetary tasks for a business unit
  • Results driven, with a strong focus on growth and an understanding of the nuances associated with running a multi-state operation
  • Ability to influence and interact within a matrix based organizational structure
  • Strong, professional, self-confident and influential presence with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • A proven track record of transforming strategy into an actionable plan that delivers measurable business results
  • An established record of leading successful change management initiatives and supporting cultural shifts
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and communicate with people at levels of the organization. Must be as comfortable interacting with the crew, as with customers
  • Effective at relationship building and maintaining clear lines of communication with individuals based on a high degree of trust and credibility
  • Ability to operate under competing priorities
  • Tech Savy – extremely comfortable with evolving technology and expert in all areas of Microsoft 365, Business Central, Power BI and PowerApps

Education/Experience/Licenses - REQUIREMENTS

  • 12 years business and operations leadership experience with the responsibility to lead strategic planning, execution, growth and change management through operations team – required
  • Experience in Landscape Maintenance operations leadership – preferred
  • Current Phoenix Landscape Industry business relationships - preferred
  • Full P&L Responsibility and expertise - required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Operational Leadership or Business - required
  • MBA - preferred
  • Previous training in Lean Kaizen, Kanban, Six Sigma - preferred
  • 21 years of age - required
  • Valid Driver's License and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record - required
  • Bilingual English/Spanish - preferred

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This role will manage a team of Directors and Managers

Travel Required

  •  Local and out of state travel based on business needs 30% out of state travel

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $130,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
